Seychelles’ Mahe Island

Overview

If your idea of a honeymoon is all about beautiful powdery beaches and clear warm water, then there are few better places than the Seychelles. Spend a sun-drenched week at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort on Mahé – the archipelago’s main island – and enjoy the kind of setting and service that you may have thought was reserved for royalty.

Whether or not you combine this idyllic tropical destination with an African safari, you will have plenty to see and do as this resort holds nothing back when it comes to offering the complete range of classic Seychelles experiences. Naturally, there are many ocean-based activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, wind surfing and scuba diving but you can also hit running tracks and hiking trails, and can even explore the island on foot. For those less active moments, grab a book from the library, join a hilltop yoga class or indulge in a pampering massage in the privacy of your own room.

Days 2-6: Island style

Your next five full days are spent doing exactly whatever you want to do in a tropical island paradise. Everything at the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles is designed to offer you a luxurious and relaxing island getaway. Kick off with a few hours lazing away on the pristine white-sand beaches and in the warm turquoise waters of this stunning island.

Then it will be time to get active. The resort offers a wide range of activities including kayaking, snorkelling, wind surfing and scuba diving – simply make use of the concierge service and they will take care of all the bookings and logistics. You can also explore the island on one of its hiking trails, work out in the gym or just relax in the library.

Special mention must be made of the Four Seasons Resort’s spa. Spread over five pavilions and offering no fewer than seven signature rituals, the spa really is a special retreat of wellness and indulgence. Enjoy a wide range of pampering and revitalising experiences, augmented by the yoga pavilion which offers complimentary group yoga classes as well as private sessions for individuals.

Dining and cocktails at the Four Seasons are offered at two venues, each offering a restaurant and lounge. One is set on a hill and the other on the beach but if you feel like sticking to yourselves, then the resort offers 24-hour room service for you to enjoy meals in the privacy of your own suite or even at the water’s edge for an unbeatable romantic evening.

Diverse flavours on offer at the restaurants capture the cultural mix of the Seychelles and include Creole specialties and tastes from the Mediterranean and south-east Asia.

On your second day, join a tour to Praslin, the second largest island in the Seychelles, where you will be able to visit the Vallee-de-Mai – the only place on Earth where the prized coco-de-mer nut grows in its natural state. Walk through the emerald forests of this protected World Heritage Site, listening for the calls of the rare black parrot, and be spellbound by Anse Lazio, widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Then cross to La Digue, island of copra nuts, giant tortoises and astounding granite rock formations at Anse Source d’Argent beach.

On day four, leave from Baie Ste Anne jetty to the Special Nature Reserve on Cousin Island, whose protected mangroves and wetlands are home to terrapins, dragonflies and myriad bird species. Then cross to Curieuse Island for a lunch barbeque on the beach – listen out for the lusty calls of its giant tortoises. After tucking in, make your way to the tiny island of St Pierre for spectacular snorkelling.
