You’ll be staying in a beachfront villa at gorgeous Azura, one of the top lodges in the region, home to a spa and PADI dive school, and close to all the activity on the island. There’s plenty to keep you busy at Azura but take some time to stretch out and enjoy the island’s soft golden sand, marvel at the captivating ‘desert island’ scenery, and soak up the African sun beside the lodge’s sparkling swimming pool.
Today you’ll fly from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Vilanculos Airport on Mozambique’s Indian Ocean coast. From here, you will take an exciting helicopter transfer to Azura, your elegant accommodation for the ultimate island getaway experience.
Spend the next five full days doing as much or as little as you want on the beautiful beaches and in the glassy-clear waters of Benguerra Island.
The active-minded will want to explore Two Mile Reef with its exceptional marine life – it’s perfect for scuba diving but if you don’t dive then don’t worry: you can also easily snorkel off nearby reefs. Try your hand at catch-and-release lure or fly fishing, or choose a thrill from the range of watersports offered.
It’s also a destination where you can kick back and do not very much at all. Wander the beaches at your own pace, chat to local fishermen, take a walk in the indigenous forest and simply soak up the peaceful beauty. There’s an on-site spa for relaxing massages and treatments, beach picnics and barbeques to enjoy, plus stargazing, dhow cruises and cultural interactions.
Say goodbye after breakfast and transfer by helicopter back to Vilanculos Aiport for your flight back to Johannesburg and your own onward arrangements.
